4/17/2023 - Spring Semester Update

uiuc

Greetings,

Next month is the end of my 3rd semester at UIUC. After that I will only have one more semester left, and I will graduate this August.

Being an online graduate student, as well as a full-time software developer has been extremely challenging. The all-nighters, constant flow of assignments, and difficult coursework have really put me to the test. Regardless, I have been able to pull through so far, and I’m confident that I will finish strong this semester and in the upcoming one as well.

Last October I also got monetized on YouTube! It was really fun to grow my community and make detailed guides and analysis videos for mobile games. Unfortunately, the game I was covering shut down this month, which put a stop to a lot of my plans moving forward in regards to the channel. Regardless, I will eventually return, and I already have some good ideas for what content I will create in the future.

Additionally, my work responsibilities have increased with the new project that I’m on. It has been great as it has been full-stack work, meaning I’ve learned a lot about system design, front-end, and back-end standards and technologies. I feel like I’m slowly coming into my own as a developer, and I’m looking forward to the future and improving my skills and mastery of different domains related to web-development and data science.

That’s all for this update, thank you for reading and good luck with your own endeavors!

5/21/2022 - End of Semester Update

uiuc

Hey! Time for another update.

Life has been so insanely busy due to me getting into the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign! I have enrolled in the Grainger College of Engineering’s Master’s in Computer Science online program. At this time I have just completed my first semester and managed to start with a 4.00 GPA.

The last 4 months were probably the busiest I have ever been in my entire life. Going into it I wasn’t sure what to expect with juggling both a full time job and doing my masters online. There were some weeks where I felt like I was truly grinding the entirety of the day. But I persevered, and was able to keep on top of both at the same time.

As far as the Summer goes, I would have liked to take more classes, but I figured this would be a good time to get my finances in order. After all school is expensive! That’s all for now, till next time!

10/1/2021 - Website Update

Hi all,

As of writing this I’m currently chilling at a boba place while working on the website. I’m proud to announce that today I have finished the basic career components of the website! I have added this list of materials into the website:

  1. All of my major data science projects that I completed in my last semester at Penn State

    • Park Visitation Dashboard

    • Machine Learning Research Paper - Comparing Parler/Twitter sentiment prior to January 6th

    • Predicting the 2021 Oscars results through movie scores and sentiment scores

  2. Added a statement of purpose to the home page, to let people know what exactly I’m pursuing in my career and why I’m pursuing it

  3. Backend support for text to be implemented through posts rather than hardcoded HTML

  4. The ability to locally test my website, so I no longer have to commit to github to view my changes

  5. The navigation bar is now buttons instead of a bar, which looks much better than the previous version, and looks native to the cayman theme

I’m also happy to announce that I’m currently applying to online masters programs! I already got accepted to John Hopkins Data Science program, so I’m super excited about getting accepted to more schools and figuring out what the next couple of year will look like!

As for this website I think I can go further in its development and how it can show off my skills. I’m thinking of making a web application that displays a curated news feed for myself, so that way I have a reason to visit this website every day and can identify typos and issues more quickly across the site.

Till next time!

8/12/2021 - Career Update

GM

Hello! I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a long time. There has been a lot going in my life so it completely slipped my mind to continue posting.

For starters, I accepted a position at General Motors (GM) to work as a Software Developer in Warren, Michigan! It’s a part of the Detroit Metropolitan area, and I could not feel more blessed that at the start of my career I landed in such a great place to grow and learn about working in corporate USA.

With this development, I had to gather all my things and move six and a half hours away from State College. I moved to a spacious aprtment in Royal Oak, Michigan and I’ve had so much fun getting to meet new people and explore the surrounding area.

I’ve already been working at GM for two and a half months; I swear I just blinked and the time flew by! I’ll continue to add the documentation from my projects in my last semester at Penn State, and after that I’ll work on some personal projects that I’ve wanted to do but didn’t have the time due to school. So be on the lookout for that. Till next time!

5/9/2021 - Graduating from PSU!

graduation

Today I graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Data Sciences! I am so happy and excited that my journey through my undergraduate degree has come to a close. I’m not sure what the future will hold for me, but for now I am very excited to look at career options and look forward to the coming years in my development as a Data Scientist!

2/12/2021 - Semester Updates

Recently I have updated the site to include the full content of the Schema Matcher project, including a link to the google collab. Currently I am very busy with school as I am working on my capstone project as well as a research paper. Stay tuned for updates when I finish those projects and create the associated markdowns at a later date.

1/14/2021 - End of Break

Winter Break is almost over, and I am decided to say that I have completed a working draft of this website! I will continue to iterate this over the coming months, but it will be nice to have a personal website to point to moving forward.

12/29/2020 - First Post

As Christmas settles down, I figured it would be a good time to work on my online portfolio before Spring Semester starts up.

As a developing professional I believe that this is something that I have been lacking in my job applications, so I am looking forward to working on this site and making it the best it can be!
